Only Wrestler On The Last Shows Of Both Eastern And Extreme Championship Wrestling

ECW Trivia

Who was the only wrestler to perform on both the last Eastern Championship Wrestling and final Extreme Championship Wrestling shows?

Answer:

The Sandman.

*** Amendment to original post. Reviewing the research, Tommy Dreamer also wrestled on both the final show for “Eastern” as well as “Extreme”. He substituted for Roadkill to defend the ECW tag team championship with Danny Doring on the final show in Arkansas on January 13, 2001. Thank you to the Reddit group for confirmation. Dreamer also wrestled Sandman on the final “Eastern” show as mentioned below. ***

The last “Eastern” show took place on August 28, 1994 in Philadelphia at the ECW Arena. This was the day after Shane Douglas won the NWA heavyweight championship tournament and threw down the belt to make the “Eastern Heavyweight Championship” the new “Extreme” title. However, legally ECW didn’t become “Extreme Championship Wrestling” until September 2, 1994 (click here). The first Extreme Championship Wrestling show took place on September 20, 1994 at the Pulsations nightclub in Concord Township, PA.

Sandman wrestled twice on August 28, 1994. He defeated Tommy Dreamer in a Singapore Cane match and later pinned Hack Meyers. He also wrestled JT Smith on the first-ever Extreme Championship Wrestling show at the Pulsations nightclub.

Sandman defeated Justin Credible in the main even on the final ECW show on January 13, 2001 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Mikey Whipwreck is the only other wrestler on the final Eastern Championship Wrestling show to wrestle in ECW in 2001. He was on the final pay-per-view event (Guilty As Charged 2001) when he & Tajiri (The Unholy Alliance) beat Guido Maritato & Tony Mamaluke (the Full Blooded Italians) and Super Crazy & Kid Kash in a 3-way dance tag team match. However, Mikey didn’t go to the final two ECW shows the following weekend, thus making Sandman & Dreamer the only wrestlers to appear on the final shows of both eras.
