Stevie Wonderful helped ECW in its earliest days during the Eastern Championship Wrestling era. In addition to being a color commentator on the pre-Hardcore TV video content (mainly in 1992) on early ECW Hardcore TV episodes (which started in 1993), he served several other roles with the company:
- Ringside interviewer
- Helping with the original music used for Eastern Championship Wrestling video introductions
- Manager
- He even wrestled once as part of a 6-man tag team match in 1993
- Possible other roles with the company
Learn more about his work in the company, including how he & others convinced Tod Gordon to start Eastern Championship Wrestling in January 1993 after the Tri-State Wrestling Alliance (TWA) folded that month.
Last year Chubby Dudley had a 5+ hour interview with Stevie Wonderful discussing his career and stories from the early ECW days. You can watch that video here:
Tod Gordon mentions Stevie Wonderful being part of the group (along with Bob Artese and Larry Winters) who encouraged him to start ECW in early 1992. You can hear the origins of that story from this “sneak preview” on the Kayfabe Commentaries YouTube channel (click here to subscribe/follow that channel) at the 8:45 mark:
