In the early days of ECW, while still Eastern Championship Wrestling, the loyal fans did their part to help make the ECW Arena crowds totally unique and stand out among the nationwide wrestling crowds of that era.
One subset of the rabid fans, who also contributed to spread the word about ECW on the then-new technology of the internet bulletin boards (such as the old rec-sport.pro-wrestling “RSPW” Usenet board) to let wrestling fans nationwide know about this new, regional promotion based in Philadelphia, was the “Bleacher Bums”
In coming months, this website plans to feature more about ECW’s loyal fans from the early days (Spring 1992) all the way to the final shows in January 2001.
Here is more information about the Bleacher Bums and how they formed, some of their chants, and the names of a few fans who later on went to join the wrestling industry and help ECW in some capacity (photography, website content, etc.).
