Archives Of Match By Match Coverage Of ECW’s Final Pay Per View Event

February 12, 2023 by ECW Website

ECW’s final pay per view event was Guilty As Charged, taking place from the Hammerstein Ballroom (Manhattan, New York) on January 7, 2001. This website updated as the pay per view went along with match-by-match coverage.

We found the Wayback/Archive posts for most of those matches, with the ones not archived designated. Below are the links:

  • Dark match between Bilvis Wesley and Mike Bell (click here for the recap)
  • Opening segment featuring Joel Gertner, Joey Styles, Joey Matthews, Christian York, Da Baldies (Angel and DeVito), Cyrus and Jerry Lynn (click here for the recap)
  • Tag-team match featuring E.Z. Money and Julio Dinero (with Elektra and Chris Hamrick) against the ECW tag team champions: Danny Doring and Roadkill (click here for the recap)
  • Match with Nova facing Chris Hamrick. Appearances by Lou E. Dangerously attacking referee Mike Kehner, Chris Chetti and Spike Dudley (click here for the recap)
  • Segment with Steve Corino and Jack Victory. Then the “I Quit” match between C.W. Anderson and Tommy Dreamer, including an appearance by Towel Boy (click here for the recap)
  • Next segment – No Archive/Wayback available
  • Then a 3-way dance tag team match with the Full Blooded Italians (Guido Maritato and Tony Mamaluke, with Sal E. Graziano) facing Mikey Whipwreck and Tajiri (with the Sinister Minister) facing Kid Kash and Super Crazy (click here for the recap)
  • Backstage interview with Sandman. Then a match with Simon Diamond and Swinger (with Dawn Marie) to face Chilly Willy and Balls Mahoney. Before the match Swinger brings out Blue Boy Management (Blue Boy and Jasmin St. Claire). Rhino comes out quickly to piledrive Jasmin from the 2nd rope (click here for the recap)
  • No Wayback/Archive of the 3-way dance for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship between Sandman, Steve Corino (with Jack Victory) and Justin Credible (with Francine)
  • Rhino comes out to challenge Sandman, who had just won the ECW World championship (click here for the recap)
  • Cyrus comes out and challenges anyone to face Rhino. RVD returns but is attacked by Jerry Lynn. Leads to Lynn vs. RVD, who later is assisted by Joel Gertner. After the match there is a backstage interview with Francine along with Steve Corino and Justin Credible and Jack Victory, with a mention of the formation of the New Impact Players. Hype Leading To Dudley Boyz Return To ECW In December 2000

February 10, 2023 by ECW Website

On December 15, 2000 the Dudley Boyz returned from WWE (then WWF) to ECW for one night to the Elks Lodge in Queens, New York. Their return was announced ahead of time on this website as an attempt to help the promotion plus give the ECW fans one more appearance of the Dudleys.

Quotes from Buh Buh Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley were found on the Wayback/Archive of this website at this link:

The last time the Dudley Boyz were seen on ECW television was the show from August 26, 1999 when they both won, and lost, the ECW tag team championship that evening.

Here is more information about that December 15, 2000 show, which happened to be ECW’s last show at the Elks Lodge in Queens:

Recap Of Ref Vs Ref Dark Match At ECW Massacre On 34th Street

February 9, 2023 by ECW Website

Shortly after ECW’s last pay per view event of 2000, Massacre on 34th Street, this website – when it still operated as the official website for the promotion – posted recaps of each match and TV segment. That night there were two dark matches before the main PPV started.

One of those matches featured two referees against each other: HC Loc vs Danny Daniels

The event took place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, NY on December 3, 2000.

Here is the link to the Wayback/Archive of the recap for that match:

Originally Scheduled Day For Living Dangerously 2001 PPV

February 8, 2023 by ECW Website

ECW Trivia Question

ECW’s last show was on January 13, 2001. However online there still was a pay per view (PPV) event scheduled before the official announcement of ECW’s closing. That event was supposed to be “Living Dangerously 2001”. On what date was that event supposed to take place?

Answer:

March 11, 2001 (a location/venue was never announced). Confirmation sources are here:

  • ECWwrestling.com reference #1 (Wayback/Archive)
  • ECWwrestling.com reference #2 (Wayback/Archive)
  • IGN announcement of the show’s cancellation which read “The following is an official statement from ECWWrestling.com. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT LIVING DANGEROUSLY Due to circumstances beyond our control, ECW must regrettably announce that we must cancel this weekend’s LIVING DANGEROUSLY pay per view event. ECW’s second CD release, “Anarchy Rocks” will still hit stores everywhere on March 20th.“

Original ECW Website Archives – Wrestler Of The Year Poll For 2000

February 7, 2023 by ECW Website

In order to preserve as much of ECW’s original history, we will link out to archives of this website from when the promotion was still active. Not many of the original pages and photos are accessible via Archive.org (Wayback Machine), but when we find interesting ones then we will include them in this blog post category:

Original ECWwrestling.com website content

Even though ECW’s last show was held on January 13, 2001 the website continued on for a few weeks afterward due to the uncertainty of the promotion’s future at that time.

This post (from the March 9, 2001 archive/snapshot) was the website’s official fan poll for the wrestler of the year for 2000: Click Here

Obviously, you cannot vote for the wrestlers now (!) – but many fans may like to see the list. Those names include:

Jerry Lynn
Justin Credible
Kid Kash
New Jack
Rhino
Rob Van Dam
Sandman
Steve Corino
Super Crazy
Tommy Dreamer
Yoshihiro Tajiri

It is unknown at this time if the promotion ever made an official announcement on its 2000 “Wrestler of the Year” as a result of this poll or by any other determination.
