ECW Alum The Equalizer Passes Away

Earlier today the wrestling world learned of the passing of professional wrestler The Equalizer (Paul Bykow). He had brief appearances in ECW in 1998 where he served as a bodyguard for Lance Wright + appeared in the ring with Spike Dudley, Tommy Dreamer, teamed with Jack Victory and others.

In Memory – Todd Wimbleton

In May 2000, ECW ran a house show in Duluth, Georgia. The opening match saw Chilly Willy defeat Todd Wimbleton; and it Todd’s only match in ECW:

We just found a March 2024 Georgia wrestling-dedicated blog which posted that he passed away some time prior to that post:

The post reads:

Last week, after Flowers was released and being shared, I got a text message from Steve Stussey letting me know Todd Wilmbleton had passed away. Todd was part of the last two Flowers I wrote because he was woven within the fabric of those stories. I don’t think enough could ever be written about Todd because he was an amazing guy. His influence was far-reaching and those of us who were fortunate enough to work with him are better today because of him. Godspeed Todd Wimbleton. 

If accurate, then we offer our belated condolences to his loved ones, friends, and colleagues in the pro wrestling industry.

Todd also appeared at the very beginning of a 1999 ECW show in Atlanta which saw him confront Sabu and Bill Alfonso. The following video clip is from Todd’s YouTube channel where he appeared at the beginning with “Murder One”:

Another video from his YouTube channel shows him being attacked at another ECW show, apparently in Atlanta at some time in 2000, again confronting Sabu and Fonzie.

Hunter Q. Robbins III Passed Away

This weekend, Hunter Q. Robbins III (name Robin Hunt) made wrestling news with the announcement of his passing. He managed many wrestlers in the original Eastern Championship Wrestling era (going back to 1992), and he often is seen doing promos on the early ECW Hardcore TV episodes.

He also participated in a handful of matches, either in tag-team or battle royal matches:
