In 1999, Acclaim Entertainment created the HardcoreRevolution.com website to help promote the upcoming ECW Hardcore Revolution video game. While searching the Wayback/Archive.org of the website we found these two mentions in the news “archives” section.

First item:

ECW Vandals Invade Acclaim Corporate HQ – Property Defaced!

It’s been a strange 24 hours for the employees of Acclaim Entertainment. First the historic bombshell dropped early yesterday morning announcing the new partnership between Acclaim and Extreme Championship Wrestling set the staff aquiver. Then, employees early this morning arrived to find the HQ lobby besmirched by a vandal’s spray paint. Graffiti. Someone had allegedly broken into the building overnight and defaced a lobby poster with “ECW Rulz.” Shock, anger, and fear gripped the building. And only one would go on record to comment on this reckless invasion. Senior Marketing Manager Mike Jerchower said, “The loyalty of ECW fans has no limits. Once they became aware of the new Acclaim/ECW relationship, they felt they had to leave their mark. It’s going to be very interesting over here during the next few months.” The question everyone is asking here is; is this just an isolated incident or is this the start of something much bigger? Only time will tell. For now, check out the damage for yourself.

Caught on Tape: Acclaim Surveillance Records Unidentified ECW Fanatic!

In response to last week’s ECW-related vandalism at Acclaim’s corporate HQ in gorgeous downtown Glen Cove, NY, the company has launched an internal investigation in conjunction with an unnamed private security firm. Among the first items sought as evidence were the tapes from the surveillance cameras mounted throughout the building. After several days of hedging, Acclaim has revealed that the images recorded on the night in question show the perpetrator as he carried out this nefarious crime. Reached for comment, Acclaim’s ECW spokesman Jay Andronico had this to say, “We do have images from the security cameras and we are reviewing all the evidence carefully as our internal investigation continues. That’s all I can really say at this time.” The slightly grainy, black-and-white images depict a large masked man caught in the act of spray-painting a lobby poster with the tag, “ECW RULZ.” The investigation is continuing as the company seeks to resolve this troubling security breakdown.
